By virtue of cultural practices embodied in literary texts, I introduce Oedipus Rex to the audience. To master English, vocabulary has to be mastered first; etymology is an effective way to get it done. C. Oedipus Rex by Sophocles (495-406 B.C.)
Learning vocabulary or story from story-line: Oedipus, Jocasta, Creon, Tiresias
oidi—I know & oida—to swell; pus—foot (measure)
rex—tyrant (able ruler) and kingship (by heritage)
The nature of knowledge was already questioned by the Greece thousand years ago, especially the so-called rationality validated by science, which took the dominant position in the 18th century.
